The vineyards are located on the left bank of the Douro and are strategically protected from intense heat, leading to cooler conditions. This allows the grapes to ripen more slowly and evenly and enhances the complexity of their aromas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe wine is made using traditional methods: after manual harvesting, the grapes are transported in small crates, destemmed and trodden in granite vats (lagares), where they ferment for about ten days.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cblockquote\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eOn the palate, this wine presents intense aromas of red fruit, complemented by subtle oak notes. It is structured, food-friendly and long-lasting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n\u003c\/blockquote\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe Proibido Tinto Reserva is an ideal match for red meat and grilled dishes and should be served at 16°C. For example, he ferments his wines exclusively with natural yeasts and – like many of the producers we work with – firmly believes that, provided the quality of the grapes is right, he can make excellent, harmonious quality wines that reflect the character of their terroir. And he seems to be doing quite well: Márcio Lopes' wines are unmistakably fresh and lively and are consistently distinguished by bright, clear, typical varietal aromas. They are expressive and pure, with crisp acidity and balanced texture.
