The No. 8 is Opinel's best-selling model and has been made in Savoy since 1890. The handle is made from a single piece of French beech. The Virobloc ring, introduced by Opinel in 1955, locks the blade in the open position and keeps it closed in your pocket.
The set includes a faux leather case with a snap fastener and cord that can be worn on a belt. Both items are supplied in Opinel's hanging box.

Beech wood expands when wet. If the handle becomes damp, it will swell slightly and the blade will be harder to open. In this case, let the knife dry and do not force it open.
