Conceito’s 10-year-old Tawny is a wine that bridges the gap between two generations at the helm of the house.
It is based on great Tawny wines from the era of José da Costa Ferreira and his brother Luís da Costa Ferreira and was aged for a long time in cement casks (a technique that, curiously, is once again at the forefront of modern oenology).
Its rich and intense flavour evokes caramelised walnuts, cotton candy, chocolates and candied orange peel. Like a delicate trail mix dipped in sweet fig syrup, this Port wine presents itself densely and deliciously on the palate.
Rita Marques, the great-niece, brought a new understanding to these wines by developing the blend very slowly, introducing a new freshness and richness, and delicately refining the foundation that is now bottled as a modern Tawny, with brilliance and lightness, depth, complexity and enjoyment. A perfect wine for hard cheese or traditional egg-and-sugar-based desserts.
