Although the Quevedo family has been making Port wine for more than five generations, the current company was only founded in 1993. This makes us one of the youngest Port wine houses on the Douro.

With less than 30 years of existence, we feel that we are still at the beginning of our journey and that every day is a new page that we fill with what we love to do most: explore all the possibilities of wine enjoyment.

In the late 1970s, Oscar and Beatriz Quevedo decided to found a family in S. João Pesqueira, in the heart of the Douro Valley. Both are descendants of families with a long tradition in winemaking and Port wine production.

The first Quevedo vineyards were planted in 1889 by Abel Gouveia Costa in Valongo dos Azeites, in S. João da Pesqueira. Abel was followed by his son Raul Gouveia Costa, who made the company flourish, and then by his son-in-law João Batista Quevedo, who expanded the vineyards into new estates and passed on the love of winemaking to his son Oscar Quevedo.

Beatriz's family also had its roots in the Carrazeda district on the north bank of the Douro. The family's main property was the Quinta da Alegria with the railway station of the same name.

After Oscar Sr. had made Port wine in his father's facilities for several years, he built a new winery, which is today the headquarters of Quevedo. In the meantime, he expanded the vineyards to the current 100 hectares and 25 hectares of organic olive cultivation.

In 1993, the Quevedo brand was founded, which ushered in a new era for the family, which now finally bottled Port wine under its own brand, which had only been possible since 1986, when Portugal joined the EU.

Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo (Jr.) grew up surrounded by vineyards and barrels and followed in their parents' footsteps in the family business.

Cláudia Quevedo graduated in 1998 with a degree in oenology from the University of Vila Real. Since then, she has been making Port wines at Quevedo. Cláudia is married to Fernando João Martins and lives near the winery with her children Beatriz and João.

Oscar Quevedo (Jr.), who studied economics in Porto and worked in finance in Switzerland and Spain, joined the family in 2009 after the death of his grandfather. He is responsible for the distribution of Quevedo in more than 40 countries.

He is married to Nadia Adria, who joined the company in 2020 and is responsible for the Marketing and Tourism department. The couple has three children: Marc, Alba, and Miguel.

Viticulture: Hand-picked grapes from our own vineyards and estate vineyards.

Fermentation: The grapes were fully destemmed and fermented slowly in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of up to 28°C.

Aging: Aged and matured in stainless steel tanks, followed by French oak and chestnut casks. This Port was blended with Ports from other vintages, resulting in an average aging period of 5 years. Gently filtered before bottling.

Contains sulfites
