An ambitious Reserva red wine with great potential that requires patience but will reward with impressive development.
The Reserva Alento 2019 presents itself as deep and with appropriate power for the level - a wine with a lot to offer this year. It shows expressive fruit and good structure, but is currently a little dense and will probably drink much better next spring.
Textured and pointed, it proves impressive in many ways with an alcohol content of 14.2%, which is perfectly integrated.
Grape Varieties & Vinification
This complex cuvée combines four distinctive grape varieties:
- 40% Alicante Bouschet - lends structure, color and power
- 35% Aragonez (Tempranillo) - brings elegance and finesse
- 15% Syrah - adds spice and complexity
- 10% Touriga Nacional - provides aromatic depth
Aging took place for 12 months in 25% new French oak, which gives the wine additional complexity without overshadowing its varietal characteristics.
Development Potential & Drinking Recommendation
Current state: Still a bit closed and dense - needs time to unfold.
Optimal period: In one year, maybe even in two years, it should hit the mark and show its full quality.
Aging potential: Should have a good chance of holding up well and developing further - a promising long-term potential.
Recommendation: Patience will be rewarded - the wine definitely needs a little more time to mature to justify the current enthusiasm.
