The Alicante Bouschet 2020 marks a historic milestone as the first bottling of this grape variety at Adega Monte Branco. The region's signature grape presents itself as a balanced and precise expression of its kind, with well-controlled alcohol at 14.2% and remarkably powerful character.
The wine shows good fruit without ever becoming fruit-forward – an elegant balance of power and finesse. Currently still somewhat closed, it promises to reveal its true greatness over time.
Vinification & Aging
100% Alicante Bouschet – the signature grape of the Alentejo, known for its intense color and structure-giving qualities.
Vinification included 12 months of aging in 50% new French oak, adding complexity and structure to the wine without masking its varietal character.
Aging Potential & Recommendation
Aging potential: At least one year of cellar aging is recommended for optimal development. The wine shows promising potential for further improvement and good longevity.
Drinking recommendation: Although still young and closed, everything points to a positive development. Patience will be rewarded with a more complex, rounded flavor profile.
