Nuno's story is similar to that of many young, talented Portuguese oenologists with a vision and a dream. He belongs to the first generation in Portugal that has properly learned winemaking, so-called oenology, and views their country as a kind of playground. Under Salazar's dictatorship, the country was "frozen" for several decades, which led to state bankruptcy and ultimately to control by the Troika. But the Portuguese are fighters and liberated themselves from this unsatisfactory situation through their own efforts. In terms of wine, the country has hardly specialized in the many internationally successful, mostly French grape varieties, but rather focuses predominantly on its countless indigenous grape varieties. In fact, Portugal boasts the largest selection of indigenous grape varieties in the world. This is exactly what interests Nuno and his partner.

Together with João Corrêa, he worked for several years as an oenologist for Companhia das Quintas until one day he met João Soares from Caves Messias. Together, the two decided to make a red wine from the Baga grape in Bairrada, and thus the project, or rather the wine Alías, was born. Subsequently, they decided to make a white wine from the Encruzado grape in Dão, the Druida. Both wines are so-called "Garage Wines", which are produced in very small quantities.
