The family history of the Berthier winery spans five generations. The current operators, brothers Clément and Florian Berthier, recently took over the reins and are continuing the passion of their predecessors. They emphasize the importance of the knowledge passed down to them for their work today and the future of the winery.

The brothers complement each other perfectly in their roles: Florian coordinates the work in the vineyards, while Clément is responsible for winemaking and marketing. They are primarily based in Coteaux du Giennois, but are also active in Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, and Menetou-Salon.

Their philosophy is based on respect for the terroir. They place great importance on soil care. This conviction led to the winery's organic certification in 2022. In winemaking, they follow a minimalist approach to bring out the full potential of each terroir. The result is authentic wines that reflect the complexity of their origin.

In the vineyards, the Berthiers employ methods such as cover cropping, gentle plowing, and promoting biodiversity. They practice yield limitation and natural pest control. In the cellar, they rely on gentle extraction, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and protection by natural CO2 instead of excessive sulfites.

Coteaux du Giennois, their main growing area, is in no way inferior to the better-known neighboring regions.
