In the last week of February, we flew to Porto to attend the two wine fairs "Essência do Vinho" and "Simplesmente Vinho". In just a few days, we discovered numerous exciting wines, reunited with many friends, and placed a few new orders that will arrive with us soon. Because the first edition last year was so successful, we are going for a second edition with our carton party in March! The concept is simple: because we are slowly running out of space for our many new discoveries, we cordially invite you to taste various wines in a pleasant atmosphere and then take your favorites home by the carton with up to 25% pallet discount.  On Friday, March 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Emser Straße 42!

We have two new Côtes du Rhône on our list: the "Carpe Diem" and "Trilogie" cuvées from Domaine Lefebvre d'Anselme. But even better than this news alone is that these wines come from the family estate of our intern, employee, and aspiring winemaker Marin Lefebvre. On Thursday, March 3, we cordially invite you to an unscheduled, informal tasting, where Marin will pour his wines and try to answer all your questions. It will be an enjoyable afternoon – we look forward to seeing you! 

Those who can't do, teach! That's a famous quote by Woody Allen, which many have already disputed. We can't let Mr. Allen get away with this either, so we're simply turning the quote around: those who can, teach! True to this motto, we want to start in January sharing our knowledge about wine, cheese, and sardines in our own seminars. But it certainly won't be like school! Instead, we invite a small group of no more than 12 participants to join us in getting to know the different flavors and pairing possibilities of certain products, tasting them, discovering them, and experiencing them. Of course, we'll also be happy to give you a little background information ...

On October 16 and 17, we held a small in-house trade fair. Under the title "Festa Portuguesa", we invited 3 of the most exciting young winemakers from Portugal to Berlin: Rita Marques Ferreira, Luis Louro and Antonio Madeira. We wanted to offer our customers the opportunity to get to know the wines of the three in a relaxed atmosphere. The weather was on our side, the shop was full and the atmosphere was fantastic, the customers enthusiastic, the winemakers satisfied and we too, of course! But instead of wasting many words, we'd rather let the pictures speak ...

As a prelude to "Cheese" at Markthalle Neun next Sunday, we are offering you the opportunity to once again taste a selection of our favorite Portuguese wines with us and discover cheese from Portugal, which has brought us one of Portugal's leading cheese experts, Manuel Maia. This Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. 

My fourth trip to Portugal this year took my wife and me back to the Douro Valley, but this time we also visited the Dão, the wine-growing region a little further south inland, which some already cautiously refer to as "Portugal's Tuscany". We met four promising winemakers, both familiar and new, and brought back a wonderful selection of fantastic wines that I am sure you will enjoy!

The fact that a new generation of winemakers has taken the reins in Portugal over the last few years has now also become known in Germany. As part of our Festa Portuguesa – an open wine tasting – we would like to introduce you to our favorite Portuguese wines. But it won't be us doing the introducing, but rather the winemakers themselves, who will be visiting us for this occasion: Rita Marques Ferreira (Conceito, Alto Douro), Louis Vegas Louro (Adega do Monte Branco, Alentejo) and Antonio Madeira (Dão). There are 10 wines on the tasting list. And Anabela Campos-Neves from anabela's Kitchen will be taking care of the refreshments with delicious petiscos!

All experts agree: good wines from Portugal have long been among the world's finest. This is partly due to the fact that Portugal is home to around 200 indigenous (if not more!) grape varieties – a huge stroke of luck! A lot is happening, especially in the Douro Valley! Nowadays, people are talking about a veritable "revolution in the Douro", because unlike just a short while ago, when only grapes for the production of Port wines were grown there, the new winemakers are now focusing on improving the quality of their own local wines. One of them is Rita Marques Ferreira from the Conceito winery. Her fine and elegant wines, with plenty of freshness and minerality, have recently enriched our wine selection.

This Friday, 7. August the new garlic harvest is traditionally celebrated in the South of France in Lautrec. A wonderful occasion for us to do the same in Wilmersdorf: to complement the fresh, spicy bulbs, we will be serving our favorite rosé wines. And anyone who dresses according to the theme will be rewarded with a little surprise...

After a visit to our "fish department", it must be clear to everyone: we have a passion for sardines! Some may even call it a little obsession, but the adoration of this fish takes on completely different proportions in other countries! For example, in Lisbon: there, the Festa de Santo António is celebrated every year on June 12th. This is a holiday in honor of Saint Anthony, the patron saint of Lisbon, during which the whole city is on its feet and sardines are grilled and eaten around the clock in the brightly decorated streets. A true paradise for us … and it goes without saying that we absolutely wanted to be there this year!

Summer is here – and we are celebrating our favorite combinations with you. Of course, all perfectly suited to the season: With fromage frais, fresh brioche, light goat cheese, rosé, pink garlic ... Oh, we are already swooning!
