In 1981, the Noir de Bigorre pig breed was almost extinct. It owes its revival solely to a handful of breeders in the Hautes-Pyrénées region who, out of respect for and commitment to their family and regional heritage, made it their mission to preserve the breed.
The black pigs are raised in the Bigorre region in the heart of the Pyrenees under strict regulations and are distinguished by their incomparably tender, flavorful meat with a rich red color.
