The Desviso Encruzado 2024 is not a wine for everyone – it is a wine for those who know what they are looking for. With this vintage, Vinhos Desviso brings out the full potential of the Encruzado grape variety: a variety known for its structural complexity and exceptional aging potential. Only a few bottles were bottled. A true rarity.
Aromatic interplay with depth
In the glass, the Encruzado reveals a multi-layered bouquet: citrus fruits and delicate flowers meet the gentle sweetness of ripe melon. The seven-month aging in French oak barrels adds a fine veil over it – delicate roasted notes, a wonderfully creamy texture, and a finish on the palate that lingers long after.
Craftsmanship without shortcuts
After strict, selective hand-harvesting and gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation begins with wild, vineyard-native yeasts in stainless steel tanks – completely without external intervention. The characteristic creaminess is created through the subsequent aging: seven months in French oak barrels, 75% used and 25% new. A deliberately chosen ratio that balances elegance and freshness.
Unfined. Unfinished. Unadulterated.
Naturally, the Encruzado 2024 is also bottled without fining, without filtration, and without artificial stabilization – true to the philosophy of Vinhos Desviso to leave the wine as it is.
(Note: Natural production can form a fine sediment in the bottle over time – not a flaw, but the sign of an honestly made wine.)
