The Conserverie Artisanale "La Quiberonnaise" was founded in 1921 and remains family-owned to this day. It is one of France's last traditional canneries. It still uses methods and recipes dating back in part to the 1920s, and all fish is always processed fresh. La Quiberonnaise produces many vintage sardines in small batches and collaborates with local artists on the can design.

Manufacturer's address: La Quiberonnaise, 5 Quai de Houat, 56170 Quiberon, France

Even the ancient Romans prized sardines and ate them salted, marinated, or smoked. To this day, the sardine—when quality and production methods are right—remains a premium product.
For the sheer pleasure of it, you should by no means miss out on the many other wonderful creations that showcase the incomparably rich range of flavors available in canned sardines: sardines in a fruity sauce, in white wine, in butter, with water and lemon… Try them!
The sardine is still the focal point of many port cities in Brittany, as well as in Spain and Portugal. It is not considered an endangered species.
