The Guintrand family, four generations of canners in the heart of Provence - since 1898

For over a hundred years, Guintrand has been producing canned fruit and vegetables in Carpentras, Provence, from produce grown in local farming regions.

In 1898, the founder, Paul Guintrand, produced his first cans in an improvised workshop in the family home in Caromb, on the slopes of Mont Ventoux. The means were typical of the time. For example, a horse provided the power to drive the press used to puree the tomatoes.

In 1910, he decided to move to Carpentras, located further down the valley, to be closer to the railway line and the metal can factory located there. This eliminated the burden of transport, which at the time was still carried out by horse-drawn cart. His workshop became more modern: electricity and steam revolutionized production methods.

Since then, the know-how and expertise of successive teams have been continuously refined, with the company’s commitment to quality always taking center stage.

To date, four generations have succeeded one another in the spirit of solidarity, ensuring that Guintrand continues as a family business that remains true to its commitment to quality and proudly upholds the culinary traditions of Provence.
