A hopping rabbit is depicted on the oak wood handle.
The size No. 8 knife is now available with a nature-inspired motif laser-engraved into the handle.
It is the most versatile knife in the collection. Thanks to its size and weight, it is well suited for small, everyday tasks.
The 8.5 cm blade has excellent cutting properties, the wooden handle fits comfortably in the hand, and the Virobloc® system locks the blade in the open or closed position.
Oak is a hard wood that is highly resistant, especially to insects and fungi, thanks to its high tannin content. It comes from French forestry and has a brown-yellow appearance with a straight and regular grain. The handle is lacquered to protect it from moisture and dirt.
The modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel was adjusted for Opinel and is known for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. The stainless steel underwent a heat treatment called martensite, which gives it a very long service life. The carbon content is at least 0.40%, which achieves very satisfactory sharpness while preventing corrosion sensitivity. Blade hardness 57-59 HRC.
The Virobloc safety ring was invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel. It is present on all folding knives from model N°06 onwards. The Virobloc is cut from stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safe use), it is now also possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safe transport).
This knife does not belong in the dishwasher!
