This 2021 red wine was produced from the Tinta Francisca grape variety, with minimal intervention in the winery.
The grapes matured in used barrels for 12 months. A total of only 1,250 bottles of this wine were produced.
The wine originates from the vineyards of Cima-Corgo (Alijó), where it was grown on slate and granite soils at an altitude of 600 meters. The Tinta Francisca grapes were harvested by hand.
Winemaking began with the harvest in September, followed by 85% destemming, minimal pressing, and 5 days of cold pre-fermentation maceration with the skins intact.
The fermentation process took place in small stainless steel tanks, and the malolactic fermentation in new and used French oak barrels, 30% of which were new.
After resting for 10 months, the wine was bottled in February 2022.
The wine presents a light ruby-red color and an intense aroma that combines spicy notes, black berries, and subtle smoky notes.
On the palate, it is elegant and fresh, velvety, smooth, and soft, with a long finish.
It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 15–18°C with game, poultry, and white meat.
